Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25 from 6-8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Raymond passed away Saturday, October 22 at his home.
He was born December 12, 1934 in Boise City, Oklahoma to Ennis and Lorrean (Mayhan) Clayton. On December 1, 1956 he married his wife of 60 years, Martha Valree Hubbard in Hamlin, Texas.
He received his Masters degree in Education and taught middle school math and science for 31 years.
Raymond enjoyed the outdoors and some of his many hobbies included raising goats, landscaping, farm management, and just being around animals. He designed and built trailers, and was a creative handyman around his farm, always looking for better ways to design and build tools to perform daily tasks.
Raymond enjoyed baking cookies every week for several years for Grace Fellowship Church, where he and Martha were members, and he became lovingly known as the Cookie Man.
He loved his family, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, but really loved his great-grandchildren!
He leaves behind his wife Martha Clayton of Paradise; son Jim B. Clayton and wife Cindy of Paradise; sister Vernie Nordstrom of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Ella Vogle of Glencoe, Oklahoma; grandchildren Clasidy Caudle of Paradise, and Wesley Clayton of Sumter, South Carolina; and great-grandchildren Candence Morris, Leia Caudle, Amelia Clayton, and Barrett Clayton.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Ennis and Lorrean Clayton, son Brad Clayton, and sister Peggy Cody.
