Georgia LaVone Ackerson Cox, 78, of Kansas City, KS., passed away Sept. 17, 2016 at Golden Living Care Center, Edwardsville, KS. Memorial services will be at 1 PM Saturday Oct. 29, 2016 at Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Ave., Kansas City, KS. LaVone was born Aug. 28, 1938 in Kansas City, KS to Fred and Georgia Malcolm Ackerson. She was a lifelong Kansas City resident and graduate of Wyandotte High School. LaVone worked as a clerk for Safeway Stores for many years before she retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Orville "Bud" Cox, brother; Fred Ackerson and sister; Winifred Rittman Aprile. Survivors include: son; Steven M. Cox, brother; Keith Ackerson, Sisters; Arlene Taney and Marilyn "Peggy" Bowers, grandchildren; Steven “Buddy” Cox and Elizabeth Cox as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. She was loving and had a wonderful sense of humor.
