Elizabeth Ann (Bitsy) Bowman left her earthly home on January 4, 2017. Born on June 28, 1937 in Nashville, TN to Jim Ben and Emma Lucille Thomas who preceded her in death as did her brother, Jim Ben Thomas, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Sam S. Bowman, III, her sons: Steven (Susan), James (Stephanie) and Sam (Christy), as well as, grandchildren Alexandra, Schuyler, Austin and McKenzie Bowman.

She was a 1955 graduate of Harpeth Hall (the first 4 year graduating class) and a 1959 graduate of Lindenwood College, St. Charles, MO with a BS in English.

Her vocation was in the field of journalism having been editor of the company newspaper of Edison Brothers Shoes in St. Louis, MO., a syndicated columnist for several newspapers in Tennessee and Alabama and editor of “The Messenger” magazine for the Mechanical Engineering Department of Auburn University, Auburn, AL.

A celebration of life and interment in the family plot will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 7th at Triune United Methodist Church, 7906 Nolensville Road, Triune, TN. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Nashville Rescue Mission, 639 Lafayette St., Nashville, TN 37203 or the Nashville Humane Association, 213 Oceola Ave., Nashville, TN 37209A.
