Boyle II, Peter Leo of Provincetown, MA and Palm Springs, CA died Wednesday June 19, 2002 at Cape Cod Hospital as a result of a heart attack. He was 57.
Born Youngstown Ohio, son of the late John J. and Rita (Reilly) Boyle, he attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC. A real estate developer and hotel proprietor, he owned and operated the Anchor Inn, a well-known historic inn on the Provincetown MA waterfront for over 30 years. He also owned and developed several other properties in Provincetown. Mr. Boyle was well known in the communities where he lived. He was an active participant in social and political causes and a supporter of the arts.
In the 1980's, he was elected to a term on the Provincetown Board of Selectmen, in addition to other civic responsibilities in which he was involved over the years. Peter was famous for his zest for life, keen sense of humor and love of a good joke. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, his favorite destination being Greece. His love of automobiles lead to a tradition of displaying a vintage car in front of the Anchor Inn for the enjoyment of guests and pedestrians.
Loving son, Ron Boyle of Provincetown, dear brother Jack Boyle of Ft. Lauderdale FL and two sisters, Karen MacDonald of Deerfield, Illinois and Mollie Nickoson of Crystal Lake, Illinois survive him. Cherished nieces Mollie Molnar Neal and Heather Molnar Walsh, both of Long Island, NY, Rita Brooks of Colleyville, TX, Lee Ann Massey of Champaign, Illinois and nephews John MacDonald of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Ken MacDonald of Virginia Beach, VA, C.J. Nickoson of Myrtle Beach, SC, and John Boyle of Vienna, VA as well as nine loving grand nieces and nephews also survives him. A sister, Barbara Boyle Molnar of Youngstown, OH predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday June 26th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 232 Seneca Ave. NE, Warren Ohio. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday June 28th at the Universalist-Unitarian Meeting House, 236 Commercial Street, Provincetown. The Rev. Alison Hyder will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Provincetown AIDS Support Group, PO Box 1522, Provincetown, MA 02657 or a cancer research fund of your choice.
