Jerry L. Thornton, 69, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016. He was born on August 3, 1947 in Laurel, Mississippi to William Ralph and Bonnie Jean Thornton. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas. Jerry served with the bereavement group of St. Mary's and was a member of the St. Mary's Men's Club. He was a member of the Montgomery Philosophical Society and served on the Walden Finance Committee. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty years Anita; sons Jason Thornton and wife Tina, and Jonathan Thornton and wife Jamie; daughters Yvette Stickell and husband Brian O'Leary, and Vicky Stickell; grandchildren Mariner, Zola, and Mary O'Leary, Christina and Melanie Trevino, Katie Woodard, Landyn and Kaylyn Thornton, Lexie, McKenzie, and Mya Thornton; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church officiated by Father Ed Kucera. A Rite of Christian Burial will take place after the Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Autism Society of Central Texas at austinautismsociety.org
