BRISTOL, Va. Jerry "Tippy" M. Cross, age 76, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016, at his home. He was born in Russell County, Va., on March 4, 1940, to the late Mancer Z. Cross and Emma Joanna Meade Cross. Jerry spent most of his life in Washington County, Va. He graduated from Wallace High School in 1957, and he retired from Ball Manufacturing in 2001. Jerry is survived by two sisters, Sharon Shelton and husband, Darrel, of Gate City, Va. and Gail Ligon and husband, Jim, of Cookeville, Tenn.; special caregivers, nephew, Jason "Jaybird" Cross and wife, Rachel, of Bristol, Va. along with great nephew, Noah S. Cross and great niece, Cora Ann Cross; nephews, Josh Ligon and Jack (Brynn) Ligon; great nieces, Harper and Sloan Ligon; and cousins, Rick Godsey and Phillip Hagler. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel, Abingdon, Va. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Jack Stevens officiating. Family and friends will gather Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 10:45 a.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, Bristol, Va., for an 11 a.m. committal and entombment service. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ireson and Darrell Gilmer. Friends are welcome to visit the family any time at the home of Mr. Cross.
