“Zest for life” has been one term used to describe Caleb. For those who knew him, we can say this is an accurate description. He enjoyed life with a passion, yet balanced that by not holding on to material possessions. He bought, enhanced and sold cars as a hobby, yet the moment he bought one he listed it for sale, even if it was one he called “his dream car.” No matter how busy he was, he always took time to talk. He treasured people and made sure we knew that by the way he treated us.

He loved the Lord and accepted Jesus as his savior when he was 3 years old. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” was tattooed on his arm. He was confident of his eternal destiny. We know God is not malicious and has a plan, even when we cannot understand it.

We are left with a vacuum that will never be filled. He cannot be replaced. And yet, we are not without hope for we know we will see him again. Those in his immediate family awaiting that reconciliation are: wife Samantha Ashley Malone Johnson, brother Joshua Ying Johnson and his wife Julia Susan Minor Johnson, mother Karen Diane Ying Johnson, father John Thomas Johnson, and maternal grandmother Emilie Ying.

A celebration of Caleb’s life will be held at Christian Life Assembly church in Tehachapi on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at 11 a.m.
