Leroy A Rathbun, 85, of Mountain Home, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at the Elmore Medical Center Hospital. Leroy was born March 11, 1915, in Ekalaka, Montana, the son of Carl Eland and Jessie M. Mewhirter Rathbun. He married Mabel Wilson on Feb. 11, 1950, in Elko, Nevada. He worked for Twin Falls Canal Company as an operator, and also worked for Vie Thurman in Mountain Home as an operator. Leroy enjoyed his children, fishing and hunting. Leroy served with the US Army in Central Europe during WW II, receiving a Purple Heart. Leroy is survived by his daughters, Edith Athens of New York City, and Nancy Gorrell of Michigan; step-son Dean Wilson and wife Deanna of Mountain Home; brother Dow Rathbun and wife Nadine of Twin Falls; four grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife Mabel in 1992; grandson Maury Dean Wilson, Jr., and brother, Von Rathbun. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
