Mrs. Klinghammer Dies in La Grande At Age of 88 Years
Mrs. Anna Klinghammer passed away in a La Grande hospital last Thursday, September 16, a the age of 88 following a long illness.
Mrs. Klinghmmer was born on July 15, 1860, at Dyer, Indiana, and came to Elgin in the fall of 1898 where she has made her home since that time. She was a charter member of the Pythian Sisters.
She was married to John Klinghammer in 1878 and is survived by five sons and one daughter. They are Charles, Hugo, Otto and Walter of La Grande, and Reinhold, of Wichita, Kan.; the daughter is Mrs. Joe Hallgrath of Elgin. She is also survived by one brother, John Schanker of Illinois; a sister, Caroline Hoffman, of North Dakota; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Monday at the Arrivey and Daniels funeral home, with Rev. Gene Robinson officiating. Interment was in the Elgin cemetery.
