Irene S. Wallace, Age 87 of Winter Park, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014. She was born on December 2, 1926 at her grandmother's farmhouse in Ohio.


She was raised on a farm in Ross Ohio. She moved to California after WWII ended where she met her husband, Preston Anderson Wallace. They wed in Texas on July 30, 1951, just after he qualified as an Air Force pilot. Their first child, Barbara was born a year later and Vivian, their second child, 2 ½ years after that. Irene was a homemaker and loving mother and wife. She supported her husband in his military career by being a member and office holder in the Officer's Wives Club. She was a Brownie Scout Leader and later a Girl Scout Leader.


They were stationed many places in the Southwest U.S. and also for 2 ½ years in England. Preston retired from the Air Force from California. The family moved to Florida and Preston started another career. Irene and Preston participated in the Aloma Methodist Church where the family attended services. She and Preston were counselors for the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) while their children were teenagers. After her children became adults, she studied to become a Real Estate Agent and eventually a Real Estate Broker.


She and Preston often made the trip back to Ohio to see her family and visited his family in Georgia. She was living in a nursing home when she passed away.


She was predeceased by her husband, Preston A. Wallace.


She is survived by her children, Barbara A. Wallace Martin and Vivian L. Wallace; brothers, Carl and Jim; sister, Hazel and many other loving relatives and friends.
