Betty Lee (Vaughn) Paulsen, 89, entered into eternal rest after a long battle with dementia in Pullman, WA (formerly of Wenatchee, WA) on October 22, 2016. She was the ninth child and last surviving member of Robert E. and Malissa C. Vaughn, born June 18, 1927, West Plains, MO. In 1934 her family of twelve traveled in a flatbed truck during the great depression to Peshastin, WA, then settled in Cashmere, WA. Betty graduated Cashmere High School where she delighted singing in choir. In 1947 she married Raymond Robert "Bud" Clunis, owning a cherry/apple orchard in Dryden till Bud contracted polio. They then moved to Wenatchee, WA to rear three children, Patricia Geno of Everett, WA, Janie (Bill) Umphrey of Spokane, WA and David Clunis of Pasco, WA. Later Betty married Hubert "Hub" Paulsen and raised son, Tom Paulsen of Pullman, WA. Hub and Betty managed the Plaza Market in Wenatchee for 10 years, concluding 30 years together at his passing. Betty will be remembered adoringly for her pretty dimpled smile, quick wit and sense of humor, endearing time spent with family, great meals, charming cross stitch pieces, fishing expertise, gardening, love of music and her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 5 brothers, seven grandchildren; Vicki (Shaun) Parkhill and Jeff Hensley of Wenatchee, Joey Geno of Everett, Mindy Umphrey of Spokane, Caitlin Clunis of Portland, Matt Paulsen of Pullman and Kayla Largent of Spokane, four great grandchildren; Ian Sagdal, Elijah Smiley , Riley Geno, Haylee Paulsen, plus numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Wenatchee.
