SOUTH BEND - John J. McLaren died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones October 19th. John was born in Cleveland, Ohio to George & Mary (O'Malley) McLaren. John served in the Navy during WWII. He saw action aboard the USS Morris, on which he served, and survived a Kamikaze attack. After serving in the Navy, he met and married Margaret Gorman, the love of his life. They moved to South Bend in the 50's and have remained there ever since. John had been the CEO of US Industries for the last 25 years before recently retiring. He was preceded in death by wife Margaret, his brother, George and sister, Margaret (McLaren) Prunty. He is survived by his sister, Mary(McLaren) Granzier, sons, Thomas and John and many loving nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Southern Care Hospice of South Bend for their gentle care. Memorial donations may be made to St. Coleman's General Fund, 2027 W. 65th Street, Cleveland, OH 44102 or Southern Care Hospice of South Bend, 310 W. McKinley Ave., #340, Mishawaka, IN 46545. There will be a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 3644 Rocky River Drive, Cleveland, OH on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10:00am. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
