Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until July 19, 1944, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

Son of Mrs. William Hack who resided in Enfield, Connecticut.

Theodore served as a Seaman Second Class, U.S.S. LST-342, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Hartford County, Connecticut prior to the war.

U.S.S. LST-342, while participating in the New Georgia-Rendova-Vangunu occupation, was hit by a Japanese Torpedo off the Solomon Islands from the Japanese submarine Ro-106. The LST-342 broke into two sections and sank quickly during the war.

Theodore was declared "Missing In Action" in this sinking.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
