NILES - Georgia Mae (Gullett) Hamilton was born April 29, 1938, in Hayti, to George and Roberta Gullett. In 1944 at an early age Georgia left Hyati with her parents and moved to Berrien Center, Michigan. While in Berrien Center, Georgia attended Maple Grove Elementary School. In 1947 Georgia moved to Eau Claire, Michigan, where she attended Maple Grove School. In 1947 the family moved to Niles, Michigan, where Georgia attended Howard Community Schools. In 1957, Georgia graduated from Niles Senior High School. After finishing high school, Georgia worked and attended college.
At the age of thirteen Georgia gave her life to Christ. She was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. She attended the Washington Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Charles Lewis. Under his leadership Georgia served as Youth Sunday School teacher, children's program coordinator, and for a short time District Sunshine Band leader. Georgia was instrumental in getting many people saved, including her mother.
In 1964, Georgia moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the U.S. government at the U.S. Information Agency. Shortly after coming to Washington, D.C., Georgia joined the Temple Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Kelsey where she participated in the intermediate, youth and state choirs. In 1968, Georgia transferred membership to New Bethel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Sherman Howard. During that period she was a choir member, recording clerk, and assistant radio announcement clerk.
In 1975, Georgia was united in Holy matrimony to Dr. Lon Hamilton, Jr., and resided in Riverdale, Maryland. Upon marrying Dr. Hamilton, Georgia became the First Lady of Greater Pentecostal Church of God in Christ where her husband served as the Senior Pastor. She was a succor of many. At Greater Pentecostal she served in all capacities. During that period Georgia became a missionary in the Greater Pentecostal Church. In 2007, Georgia retired from the government after thirty-one years of services. She moved back to Niles, MI, in 2012, and attended Spiritual Vision Church.
Georgia's hobbies were sewing and reading. Her favorite sons were: “I Know Prayer Changes Things”, I Am So Grateful I Have Christ in My Life”, and If I can Help Somebody, (then my living will not be in vain. Both of Georgia's parents, George and Roberta Gullett, preceded her in death. Her sister, Tiza Taylor, also preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Lon Hamilton, Jr.; one daughter, Erika Lynn (Isaac) Davis; one son, Christopher Hamilton; eight grandchildren, Te'Von, M'Kai, DevLon, Tandi, Loniece, Taquasha, Ricardo, and Prince; one great-grandson, Zaire; two nieces, Doris Tennyson and Patricia Taylor; two nephews, Robert and Ronnie Taylor; eight sisters-in-law; and a host of other nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor heights nor depth, nor any other created things, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
