Bobby E. “Tootie” Herron, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Norton, Va.

Tootie was a lifelong resident of Wise County and was a retired coal miner with the Westmoreland Coal Company, having 29 years of service. He was a member of the U. M. W. A. He loved to hunt, run dogs, dance and most importantly, Tootie never met a stranger. He attended Imoden (Va.) Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Herron; his parents, Earl and Maxie (McKinney) Herron; a sister, Jenelle Hamilton; and brother-in-law, Larry Trinkle.

Surviving are his two sons, Robert “Buddy” Herron and wife, Paula of Blackwood, VA, and Adam Herron and wife, Suzanne of Wise, Va.; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Hailea, Sadie, Joshua, Lanie, Ryan and Addie; two great grandchildren, Kansas and Brooklyn; one sister, Brenda (Jerry) Palmer of Big Stone Gap, Va.; two brothers, Paul Eugene (Janet) Herron of Dryden, Va. and Donnie (Montana) Herron of Big Stone Gap, Va.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 25, 2016) at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap.

The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tony Nunley officiating.

Holding Funeral Home is serving Mr. Herron’s family.
