Greg was born on July 20, 1955 in Charleston, a son of the late James and Phyllis (Hudson) Ferguson. He was married to Marilyn (Hanner) Ferguson and he is survived by their two sons: Shad Ferguson and wife Kim of Charleston and Kerry Ferguson and wife Amanda of Lerna. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jerad Ferguson, Logan Ferguson, Wyatt Ferguson and Trent Ferguson; a sister, Diane Winnett and husband Ray of Charleston; a brother, Mike Ferguson of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Ferguson and Dick Ferguson; and a sister, Alicia Conover.
Greg was a 1974 graduate of Charleston High School. He has been employed by the Coles County Regional Planning Office for 17 years, first as the Director of Housing, and currently as Housing Inspector. He is a member of Salisbury Church, the Hutton Masonic Lodge #698 A.F. & A.M., and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Valley of Danville Scottish Rite.
Greg was musically talented and thoroughly enjoyed playing his guitar – bluegrass was his favorite and he attended many of the local festivals. He also enjoyed spending time with his canine friend – MoJo! Greg will truly be missed by his family and many friends.
