Ora Yates, Jr., age 85, of Kinmundy, IL, passed away at 7:05 am, Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Odin Health Care Center in Odin, IL. He was a Sharp Shooter in the United State Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer, worked various factory and trucking jobs and retired as Meacham Township Road Commissioner after 16 years, serving from 1977-1993. He was a member of Meacham Baptist Church and enjoyed camping with friends and family.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 27, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 11 Friday morning, October 28, 2016 at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded. Interment will be in Elder Cemetery, Kinmundy, IL. Ora Yates, Jr. was born Saturday, January 24, 1931 in Atwood, IL, the son of Ora and Lillian (Mulvaney) Yates. He was united in marriage with Barbra Lake on July 23, 1954, in Ingraham and to this union were born one son and six daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Boyd, Richard, Rolland, Lavern, Lowell and sister Pauline Butts.
