Grover Bernice King, 77, of Roanoke County, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2004 after a long, hard battle with diabetes. He was retired from the N&W Railroad where he was a machinist for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oakey and Bertha King, a brother, William, and sisters. Nanie Mae and Rosie. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norris Naomi King; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Gayle, Ronnie and Susan, and Charlie; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda and Clifford, and Rita and Hugh; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; three brothers, Leroy and wife, Martha, Paul and Tilley, and Robert and wife, Dean; four sisters, Velma and husband, George, Dot and husband, Gerald, Arlene and husband, Jay, and Agnes; also a special K-9 companion, Shorty. The family would like to thank all of his neighbors, family and friends for their love and support for many years. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 1, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Raymond Martin and the Rev. Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Lotz Funeral Chapel.
