Loftin George Stewart, 87

Loftin was born on August 30, 1899 to George and Atha Stewart at Blair, Nebraska.

He married Edith Warrick on June 30 at Medford, Oregon. They were blessed with one daughter.

Stewart served in the Army from 1918 to 1922 and then entered the Coast Guard. In 1923 he enlisted in the Navy.

In the course of the next thirty years, the ships he served on anchored at harbors throughout the world. The highlight was the four years of patrolling the Vantze Kiang River in China.

His family accompanied him whenever possible.

Loftin George Stewart, 87, of Encinitas, California, died September 23, 1986.

Military funeral services were held September 29 in San Diego, California.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; one daughter, Sandra Biles; and four grandchildren, Lisa, Erica, Kendra and Arnold, all of Houston, Texas. Other survivors include a nephew, Ross Love of Blair, Nebraska.
