Samuel served as a Private, Headquarters Squadron, 27th Bomber Group, Light, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Fairfield County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on December 10, 1940, prior to the war, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Samuel was taken prisoner in the capture of the Bataan Peninsula & Corregidor, Philippine Islands in April & May, 1942. He was held at a Japanese POW Camp in the Philippines.

Samuel "Died While A POW" of the Japanese.

He was awarded the Prisoner Of War Medal and the Purple Heart.
