The Burlington Hawk-Eye,

Mr. Lawrence Henry Niehaus, 67, of Mediapolis, died Thursday (January 24, 1963) in Veterans hospital, Iowa City. Mr. Niehaus was the father of Frank H. Niehaus, 2008, Clearview Drive; Jerry A. Niehaus, 468 East Pennington Street, West Burlington, and W. Warren Niehaus, of Lower West Avenue Road.

A long-time employee of the Iowa Highway Commission, Mr. Niehaus had been retired since 1900.

He was the son of Henry and Mary Riepe Niehaus, and was born at Sperry on September 8, 1895. He was married to Lela Piper at Muscatine in 1921. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 243.

Besides his wife and sons, Niehaus is survived by a brother, five sisters, seven grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
