Woodard, Sr., Donald F. age 74, of Elmira, NY left this life on Monday, July 18, 2016 after a brief illness, to be reunited with his beloved wife Lillian. He was born October 19, 1941 in Elmira, the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Carpenter) Woodard.

Donald is survived by his loving children: daughter, Christine Woodard of Elmira, NY; son, Blair (Danielle) Woodard of Big Flats, NY; daughter, Susan (Matthew) Gauthier of Elmira, NY; beloved grandchildren: Stephanie (Brian) Grover, Brandee Proctor and Amanda Proctor; grandson, who was the "apple of his eye", Wyatt Gauthier; Matthew (Catie) Woodard, Emily Woodard and Sarah Woodard; cherished great grandchildren: Skylar, Lacee and Payton Grover; Ryan Woodard; sister, Emma (Richard) Wardwell of Elmira, NY; brother-in-law, Roger Reed (Mike Greene) of the Rochester, NY area. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years and lifetime friend, Lillian A. (Reed) Woodard; beloved sons, Ronald A. and Donald F. Woodard, Jr.; brother, Charles Woodard; sister, Nancy Morgan; brother-in-law, Beldon Reed.

Donald retired from Hardinge Inc. as manager of shipping after 40 + years of dedicated service. He always looked forward to the third Friday of every month to sit down with the retiree's at Curley's for breakfast. He was also very active in the Hardinge Men's Club with dinners and dances. Donald was an excellent swimmer, enjoyed scuba diving, was a licensed skin diver, an award winning softball player and bowler. He had a wonderful voice, and led all of the road trip sing a longs in a beautiful bass voice. Donald was proud to be a member of The Order of the Arrow, in the Boy Scouts of America. Donald will always be remembered as a fair honest and hard working man. Till the end, he exemplified the virtues of a bye gone era.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services honoring his life will be held there on Thursday, July 28th at 11:00 AM. His brother-in-law, Reverend Roger Reed will officiate. Interment will take place privately in the Woodlawn Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his soulmate, Lillian. Floral arrangements are greatly appreciated.
