Mrs Annie Pearl (Boyd) Martin passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, with her family by her side, on Friday, October 14, 2016 in Columbia, TN at the age of 96.

Interment in Giles Memory Gardens in Pulaski, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr Solomon and Florence (Perry) Boyd (Lynnville, TN), as the youngest and last surviving sibling, waiting for her in heaven are her brothers; Robert Earl Boyd (Pulaski, TN), Everett Jehoy Boyd (Columbis, TN). John Andra Boyd (Pulaski, TN), Livingston Boyd (Lynnville, TN) and sisters Bessie Lee Boyd (Nashville, TN), Sara Louise (Boyd) Demonbreun (Columbia, TN.

She is survived by her husband of seventy-three years Mr Austin Peay Martin (Pulaski, TN). From this union came one son, Gerald Wayne (Marie) Martin (Brentwood, TN).

Mrs Annie Pearl (Boyd) Martin was born Jun 13, 1920 in Lynnville, Giles County, TN. She attended Round Hill Elementary and Bridgeforth High School where she graduated as Salutatorian of her class. Mrs Martin received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee State University, where she was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. Mrs Annie Pearl Martin was employed from thirty-nine years in the Giles County School System. She began her teaching career at Haywood School. Later, she served as a teacher at Waco Elementary School and eventually became the principal of Waco Elementary. She taught at Jones High School in Lynnville and finished her career at Richland Elementary School. She was recognized as "Teacher of the Year" for the 1974 school year.

Mrs Annie Pearl Martin was a Lifetime member of the Round Hill African America Methodist Episcopal Church. She served as church secretary, stewardess, chairperson pro-tem stewardess board, church school teacher, member of the choir, President of the Women's Missionary Society, and Corresponding Secretary for the East Tennessee Conference Women's Missionary Society. She was also a member of the East Tennessee Conference Trustees, delivered meals on meals for senior citizens, and helped at the help center in Pulaski.

Mrs Annie Pearl Martin's life personified the true meaning of the word "Love". She was a loving wife, supportive mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who called her "Great Mama". She loved to fish and cheer on her Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team (currently the Los Angeles Dodgers). She had a love of learning and was a lifelong learner who read voraciously. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends. And most importantly, she loved the Lord. She encouraged her grandchildren to believe i the poer of prayer and to look unto the Lord, from whom all help comes.

Mrs Annie Pear Martin's favorite scripture is found in Proverbs 3:6: "In all ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path." The church was her foundation. Her faith helped her accomplish all things in her life and was the basis of her beliefs: loving deeply, never hating, finding joy in doing rather than receiving, and living peacefully with her fellow man.
