Darwin Leon Krueger, 84 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 8:50 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville.
He was born on July 15, 1932 in Beecher City, IL the son of Leonard and Reba (Shrake) Krueger. He married Sandy Fabicheski on October 11, 1957 in Effingham, IL.
He worked as a boilermaker and pipefitter at Caterpillar. Darwin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean Conflict, aboard the USS Waldron during his service. He was a member of the Taylorville Eagles Club #1425, American Legion Post #73 and VFW Post #4495.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy of Taylorville, IL; sons, Darwin B. (Cathy) Krueger of Taylorville, IL, Norman (Catherine) Krueger of Ft. Valley, GA; daughters, Lorrie Miller of Taylorville, IL, Misty (Dennis) Fisher of Shelbyville, IL; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Glenna Porter of Taylorville, IL; brother, Floyd (Mary) Krueger of Taylorville, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Joseph Eric Krueger; and brother, Dewain Krueger.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL with Military Graveside Honors. There will be no visitation.
