Frank R. Alvarado, 55, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, October 20, 2016 at his home.
Born December 19, 1960 in Fort Stockton, Texas, he was the son of Benito Nunez and Dora (Naranjo) Alvarado. He was raised and received his education in Fort Stockton, graduating from Fort Stockton High School in 1979. After school, he went to work for his father as a Diesel Mechanic and Truck Driver.
He married Nikki Ringham around 1985 in Fort Stockton. The couple moved to Wichita, Kansas where Frank began working for Prairie Land as a Truck Driver. To this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced. In 1989, he moved to Wellington and in 1992, moved to Winfield, Kansas and began working for Virgil Dennett. He later went to work for Daniels Ready Mix where he remained until retiring in 2012. He was united in marriage to Sandra McNally on December 30, 2006 at First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield.
Frank was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield and was a boy scout leader for Troop 316. He enjoyed rodeoing and dancing in Wichita in his younger days and later was involved in Figure 8 races and Demolition Derbys at the fair.
His family includes: His wife: Sandra of Winfield; His son: Nathan Alvarado and Shelby of Winfield; His step-son: John Berniklau of Winfield; His step-daughter: Emily Berniklau and Bryan of Rock; His mother: Dora Alvarado of Fort Stockton, TX; His sisters: Jeannie Sullivan and husband, Mark; Rose Wiseman and husband, Wayne; Teresa Manchan and husband, Richard; His brothers: Tony Alvarado; Benny Alvarado; Wayne Alvarado; Joseph Alvarado; Thomas Alvarado; David Alvarado; Chris Alvarado; His grandchildren: Madison, Ziya, Chloe, Aubrey, Elizabeth and Kaspar; and Many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Frank was preceded in death by two infant siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Frank’s name for Boy Scout Troop 316 and for Kidney Research at KU Medical Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
