She graduated from New Castle High School. Jewel was a very gifted gardener and had sold Avon for 50 years. She loved going to her lake cottage with her loving husband.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Jean "Sonny" Brown of Warsaw; grandchildren: Kelly (Roy) Desmond of Geneva, ILL, Ann Brown of Nashville, TN; two great-grandchildren: Lilly and Piper Desmond both of Geneva, IL; a special niece: Karen Fisher; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Brown; son, John K. Brown; siblings: Roland Clark, Clarence Clark, Essie Ray, Lillian Crum York Harris, Nettie Grunden Reed and Josephine Fant.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24,2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
