Priscilla Angeline Cullum was born Dec 13, 1815 at Elk Springs KY, the daughter of Francis Tilman Cullom and Mary W. McConkey.
She was married Jan 5, 1840 in Wayne Co KY to James Moses Higginbotham, son of Andrew Higginbotham and Sally Bell. They are parents of eight children.
The family moved several times during the war years. They were located in
Sangamon Co Il at the time of James death, due to illness, in 1863. On the move again after the war, they first farmed in Iowa, then on to Missouri following eldest son Johns marriage into the Browning family. Taking land in Linn County, the family remained in Missouri until the spring of 1881.
A caravan of 42 wagons started the trip west and most made it to Walla Walla in August. Some ventured on to try the Oregon coast for a year, others backtracked to the Grand Ronde country and homesteaded near what is now Elgin OR.
Priscilla died Jun 27, 1899 in Union Co OR and lies at rest in the Elgin Cemetery.
