Daniel "Dan" McConnell, 72, of Urbana, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born May 31, 1944 in Urbana and was a 1963 graduate of Urbana High School. Dan retired from International Harvester. He was the owner and operator of several businesses including, McConnell's Pizza, Tropical Fish & Pet Supply and traveled with the Carnival running games and concession trailers. He was a member of the Harmony Lodge #8 F. & A.M., Urbana. Dan enjoyed gambling and he never met a stranger. He also enjoyed socializing with friends over food and coffee. Dan especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Linda McConnell; his daughters, Cheryl (Derrick) Davis, and Melissa (Aaron) Huffman; his grandchildren Kacey, Michael II, and Carson McConnell, Bradley and Brent Long, Brianna Allen, and Andrew McConnell, Heather, Tanner, Nicholas, and Gunnar Huffman; his great grandsons, Bradley, Gage, Donovan, and Bentley; and his brothers, Charles (Melinda) McConnell, Robert (Ellen) McConnell, and Bill McConnell.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Laura (Huffman) McConnell; his son, Michael McConnell; great grandson, Leland Michael McConnell and his sister-in-law, Connie McConnell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, with Masonic Services being held at 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor Tony Pena officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
