He is predeceased by his parents, the late William Erwin Drake, and Mary Louise Morgan Drake; siblings Thomas A. Drake, and William E. Drake, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Claire Jeter Drake, three children, John F. Drake, Jr. (Syble), Daniel D. Drake (Janice-deceased); grandchildren John III, David (Angela), Roy(Melissa), Darrell, Jayson; great grandchildren John Gavin Drake, Breauna Drake, Caden Drake, Roy III, Sabrina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service as a Senior Master Chief and then retired from the U. S. Post Office after 20 years. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 6640. He will be greatly missed by all those he loved.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation with the family at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home; 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana from 9:00 am – 11:00 am on Saturday October 22, 2016 with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am in the Leitz-Eagan chapel.
