Clifton "Leo" Graves was born on August 27, 1906 in Nashville, Tennessee, a son and 6th child of Charles Edgar Graves (1864-1949) and Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Rice) Graves (1866-1951). [Although his Death Certificate listed his father as James Graves, his 1941 Delayed Birth Record has his father as Charles Edgar Graves.]

He was married to Ruby Griffith and was also a veteran of World War II, having enlisted on August 31, 1942 in the US Navy Reserve and having an honorable discharge on September 22, 1942.

A switch man for the railroad and living at 912 Cherokee Avenue, Nashville, Leo was 51 years old and married when he died on January 31, 1958 at the VA Hospital in Nashville of "infarct, pulmonary, multiple." Burial was on February 3rd in Spring Hill Cemetery at Madison [city, not county].

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate.
