Son of Earl and Gethel (Craig) McGregor, Craig worked in the logging industry and was owner and operator of shake mills in Aberdeen and Moclips, Washington. He married Luella Goldie Wilkerson in Seattle on March 27, 1940. In 1973 they moved to Whidbey Island where, with his son Gary, he established Technical Services, Inc. in oak Harbor. He retired as its president in 1985.

He was survived by his wife,; his daughter, Jan McGregor of Coupeville; his daughter-in-law, Caroline Jeanette "Pepper" McGregor of Coupeville; and one sister, Karen Boettcher of Tacoma. His son, Gary Craig McGregor, preceded him in death.
