A career naval officer, James J. Brosnahan was a distinguished fighter pilot in the South Pacific during World War II. Later he was the commanding officer of Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica in 1961. Then he commanded VT7, a pilot-training squadron in Meridian, Mississippi. He retired as Air Operations Officer at NAS Whidbey.
