Kathryn Esther Rosalie Strom Rogers was born November 26, 1930 on the family farm near Wilsey, KS, the daughter of Charlie and Pauline (Mitchell) Strom. She departed this life on October 17, 2016 at Chapman Valley Manor.

Kathryn grew up in the Parkerville area and attended grade school all eight years at the Colonel one room school. She began high school at the Parkerville Rural High School her Freshman year, transferring to the White City School when the Parkerville school closed. She was a member of the 1948 graduating class of White City High.

She attended Emporia State Teacher’s College and taught 2 years at the Marion Hill rural grade school near Dwight, KS. She was married to Edward Rogers at Parkerville on November 29, 1949 and became a homemaker. He survives.

She was along time member of the Parkerville Baptist Church, having placed her trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as a young girl. In addition to her church membership she was a member of the Parkerville Baptist Church Ladies Aid, their Ladies Evening Fellowship and the Walla Walla EEU. She had taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a leader in her Church AWANA Club. She had served as a leader for the Brookside 4-H Club. Her church and her family were the most important things in her life.

She later became a Civil Service workers [sic] for 28 years at Fort Riley. She retired in 1988 from the Office of the Comptroller at Fort Riley where she was a budget analyst. For many years she was a representative of Home Interiors and Gifts and also worked as a receptionist at the Audiologist Clinic in Junction City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Billie in Feb of 1930, a sister Charlene Garr on June 11, 2012 and 2 sons, Michael W. on July 17, 2002 and James D. on June 25, 2015.

Survivors include in addition to her husband, one brother Charles Strom and wife Kay of Parkerville, KS, daughter-in-law Carol Rogers of Liberal, KS, Kathy Chamberlin and husband Randy of Chapman, KS, Kris Crable and husband Steve of Bucklin, KS.
Grandchildren include Rob Rogers and wife Melissa of Liberal, KS, Shelby (Rogers) Powell and husband Adam of Peoria, AZ, Sonya Corrigan and husband James of Harker Heights, TX, Stacey Vazquez and husband George of Benbrook, TX, Stephanie Gfeller and husband Heath of Chapman, KS, Mindy Webb and Mike of Salina, KS, Billy Crable of Junction City, KS, Kristi Hobby and husband Brad of Salina, KS and Tyler Crable of Bucklin, KS, and Abby Chamberlin of Vista, CA.
Great grandchildren Haley and Kylie Corrigan, Blake and Page Rogers, Levi Browning, Nichol and Sawyer Kesterson, Colton Crable, Dakotah, Darian and Drayke Webb, Alleyah Martin, Kayleigh, Kennadi and Karson Hobby, Emerson and Eleanor Vazquez, Clara and Gracen Gfeller, and Sloane Powell. As well as 4 great-great grandchildren Presli Browning, Brookelyn Lockeby, Kale Kesterson and Jaxon Webb.

Service will be held at the Parkerville Baptist Church on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. A meal will be at noon prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the Parkerville Cemetery. Pastor Steve Strom will officiate. Memorials are suggested to Parkerville Baptist Church or Chapman Valley Manor. Memorials may be sent in care of the Londeen Funeral Chapel, Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431.
