MARTHA CLARIECE (CADDELL) ABERNATHY, June 21, 1921- January 30, 2019. Martha went to be with the Lord after a long, faithful, and productive life. She was married to Andrew Abernathy (2008) for 58 years. They were founding members of Norwood Presbyterian Church and members of Andersonville Methodist Church. Martha was born in Brent, AL and worked for the DOD in Washington DC during WWII. She married and moved to Knoxville in 1949. She worked for AEC in Oak Ridge for 29 years. She and Andy retired and moved to their home on Norris Lake in 1979. They were long-time members of the Fountain City Sportsmen’s Club. Martha was a loving mother and doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved feeding and watching her birds. Family and friends miss her love and guidance as we celebrate a life well lived. She is survived by her son Allen (Debby) Abernathy, granddaughters Rachael Abernathy (fiancé Gaspar Catanzaro) and Robin (Ron) Dunlay and great grandchildren Leah Claire (4) and Brendan James (1) Dunlay, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee or Andersonville United Methodist Church 3944 Andersonville Hwy, Andersonville, TN 37705. . The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm February 2, 2019, at ROSE MORTUARY BROADWAY CHAPEL. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 pm with Rev. Jack Sills officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:45 pm Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 3:00 pm graveside service.
