Carolyn Shutt Hamilton, 85
The widow of the late Perry Wayne Hamilton and a lifelong resident of Hardin County, she died Oct. 19, 2016 following an extended illness.
Born October 3, 1931 in Hardin County to the late Robert "Bob" Taylor Shutt and Bernice Irene Basey Shutt, Mrs. Hamilton owned and operated Carolyn's Drapery Den, where she worked sewing custom draperies and decor.
She was raised in the Cravens area of Savannah known as “The Fork". In her younger years, Mrs. Hamilton participated in the Home Demonstration Club.
She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah for over 60 years.
Mrs. Hamilton served in the local and presbyteral Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry and was a General Assembly delegate and officer.
On May 13, 1951, she was united in marriage to Perry Wayne Hamilton, who preceded his wife in death on January 22, 2004.
Services weree conducted by Helen Hamilton with burial at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
Survivors include: children Deborah Jan Clayton, Perry Mack (Helen) Hamilton, Bobbie Kay (Tommy) Bryan and sister Doris Marie Ray.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Alaina Jan Clayton (Jordan) Gray, Jacob Hunter (Mitzi) Hamilton, Emily Kay Clayton, Caroline Elizabeth Hamilton (and fiance Jeremy Havens), Taylor Jordan Bryan and Thomas Hamilton Bryan; great grandchildren Charlotte Elaine Hamilton, Amelia Jan Gray and Cordelia Rose Hamilton as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relations.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hamilton is preceded in death by her late son-in-law Mark Thomas Clayton and brother-in-law Freeman Ray.

SAVANNAH -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 300 Tennessee St., Savannah, for Mrs. Hamilton, 85.

Mrs. Hamilton was the mother of Lebanon's Bobbie Kay (Tommy) Bryan.
