Ann Blagden (Blackden) was born in London, England in 1742. Her family moved to Boston, Mass before 1759. She married a widower with 3 children, Dr John Prescott in 1759 in Boston , Massachussetts. Together they had 9 more children, all born in Canada. John was a Medical Practitioner and a Col in the British Army. He had agreed to go to Canada and had served at the Battle of Louisburg 1745. From there he moved to Boston, MA, and eventually returned to Nova Scotia.

He built a large house in Chester, Lunenburg County Nova Scotia called "Maroon Hall", now Prescott House. French prisoners of war were housed at this house and painted portraits of John and Ann, which were unable to be finished before they left.

Her husband died in 1807 in Chester of cancer of the lip. She moved to Halifax and lived with her daughter Anna Fairbanks. She died in 1810 in Halifax. She is probably buried in Camp Hill Cemetery near her daughter Anna Fairbanks as she was not buried in Chester.
