Marilyn J. Dain, 87, of Rochester, MN passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Shorewood Memory Care.
Marilyn Joann Trytten was born July 29, 1929 in Ridgeway, IA to Chris and Amelia (Anderson) Trytten.
Marilyn met her husband, Roland “Rollie” Dain while attending Luther College. Rollie and Marilyn were married August 25, 1948 in Ridgeway, IA. While married the couple both pursued teaching careers. Rollie passed away August 20, 2014.
Marilyn taught in Cresco, IA for 15 years and also in Fennimore, WI.
After retirement, the couple moved to Fredericksburg, TX where they lived for 20 years before moving to Rochester.
Marilyn enjoyed cooking, sewing, golfing and spending time with her family. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Laurie (Jack) Braun, of Rochester, and Kristin Dain, of Dallas, TX; a son, Bradley (Jennifer) Dain, of Guilford, CT; two grandchildren, Sarah (Randy) Ekenberg, of Bloomington, MN, and Andrew (Ana) Braun, of Rochester and one great grandchild, Henry Ekenberg.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church (810 3rd Avenue SE) with the Reverend Anjanette Bandel officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Decorah Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah, IA.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association and Season’s Hospice.
