C. Yvonne Groves George, 66, passed away, Saturday, August 25, 2007, at her Millcreek home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 13, 1941 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Arden Groves and the late Alma and Russell Malcolm.

Yvonne was a self-employed painter for many years. She loved fishing, gardening and cross-stitching. She also enjoyed canning and making jams and jellies that she would share with her family and friends. She and her sister Barbara put on water skiing shows during intermission at the power boat races on the Lake Erie Bay in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Kuhlman. Yvonne is survived by her husband, Louis George, of Erie, a daughter Tami Ryan (Tim), of Erie, two sons, David Berry (Nicole) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Scott Berry (Regina) of Richmond, Kentucky, stepson William George (Pam), of Erie; a brother Butch Groves (Ceil) of Mt. Lebanon, Pa. She is further survived by grandchildren, Amanda Paproski, Devin Ryan, Mitchell, Emily and Connor Berry, and Michael and Natalie George.

Friends may call at the Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, on Monday from 2 until 5 and 7 until 9 p.m., and are invited to attend services there Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
