Clinton spent his first fourteen years in Castroville then permanently resided in Salinas. He graduated from Salinas High School in 1965. In 1967 he was drafted in to the U.S. Army where he spent the majority of his duty in upstate New York. He spent the next five years at CTF Soledad as a Correctional Officer. He was among the first group of employees to work at the new jail for the Monterey County Sheriff's Department. He served as a Sergeant for 28 years until his retirement in 2002.
Clinton loved to go fishing, drive to Moss Landing and surrounding areas and look at the boats which reminded him of his childhood and in later years enjoyed oil painting. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Salinas and loved his church family. He loved spending quality time with family and especially with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son CJ McCoy; sister, Kay Serasio and parents Clinton and Vera McCoy.
Clinton is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Lorraine McCoy, son Curtis McCoy, daughter Cristin Cornelius, son-in-law James Cornelius, daughter-in-law Rosie McCoy, grandchildren Cydney and Christian McCoy and Cuinn and Ceira Cornelius. He also leaves behind extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We know he is at peace now in God's loving hands. We will miss him terribly but find comfort in knowing he is watching over us.
