Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dick Marcear, minister of The Church of Christ at the Colonies, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Mr. Gatlin was born on a farm near Carlton. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1928 and moved to Amarillo in 1932.
He operated a service station for more than 40 years. He was a member of Ross Rogers Golf Course and was president of Municipal Golfers Association for many years.
Mr. Gatlin had been a member of Central Church of Christ for many years and more recently was a member of The Church of Christ at the Colonies.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Gatlin, who is the mother of his four children, and a daughter, Lavonda Bill.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce, whom he married in 1993; two sons, Martin D. Gatlin and wife Mary Ann of Amarillo and Barry Gatlin and wife Tanya of Rockport; a daughter, Janice Reeves of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
The family encourages friends to share thoughts and memories of Wayne or "Granddad" as he so affectionately was called, at a visitation from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
