Jeffrey Scott Powell, age 51, of Trilla passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Dodge Grove Cemetery with Pastor Robert Warren officiating. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Jeffrey was born on November 12, 1964 in Mattoon the son of Dwight and Sandra Kay (Burwell) Powell.
Survivors include his parents, Roy “Dwight” and Sandra Kay Powell of Trilla, IL; sister, Jodi (Steven) Ritter of Mattoon, IL; special nephew and buddy, Jackson Ritter of Mattoon, IL; aunt, Betty Cushman of Mattoon, IL; great aunt, Norma Wallace of Mattoon, IL; lifelong friends, Barry Ethington of Trilla, IL and Bill Tatman of Trilla, IL. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Jeffrey graduated from Mattoon High School in 1982 and was also a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree. He was very witty and had a great sense of humor. Jeffrey was an avid reader. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jeffrey will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
