Richard A. Puckett, Sr., 86, passed away on Friday evening at York Hospital following a brief illness. Dick was born on September 27, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Cecil and Marie "Mary" (Comiskey) Puckett. He was the husband of Joyce Deller Watson and the late Judith (Jude) Lee Hull. Dick always said he was from Cleveland when asked, although he and Jude lived in York, Oregon and Illinois. Following Jude's passing after 47 years of marriage, Dick and Joyce were blessed to meet and have nine years together.

He was a graduate of York Catholic High School and Mount Saint Mary's University. Dick was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving nine years during the Korean era.

Dick is survived by four children, David (Martha) of Ohio, Chris (Judy) of Whaleyville, Md., Rick (Marna) of Wilmington, N.C., and Laura of Ocean City, Md. Survivors also include four stepchildren, Dave Watson (Danielle), Jesse Watson (Carrie) of York, Jennifer Warfel (Tammie Arnold) of Red Lion, and Frances (Frankie) Watson of Seven Valleys.

Puckett grandchildren include Charlie, Ohio, Libby, Chicago, J.D. of Houston, Mitch, Ohio, Henry, Ohio, and Grace Lee of Wilmington, N.C.; step grandchildren, Josh Watson, York, Breana, Ashlee and Victoria Ryder of York, Libby, Ian, Sarah and Devon Watson of York, Cameron Warfel of Windsor, Paige and Faith Warfel of Red Lion, Maddie Arnold-Scerbo of Red Lion, and Ashley Ramos of Philadelphia. Also six step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Dick was predeceased by his brother, Donald Puckett and a step-granddaughter.

Dick retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company as Purchasing Manager after 35 enjoyable years with the company. He had many pastimes he engaged in, most notably golf and bridge. Dick enjoyed traveling, having seen parts of Europe during his career with CAT, and also parts of the West. Most of all, he enjoyed trips to be with all of his family. His life included numerous volunteer opportunities with York Hospital, Pleasant Acres, Our Daily Bread, and those in need.

A Memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Road, with the Rev. James Menkhus, O.F.M. Cap as the celebrant. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family would humbly suggest St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105; or to Our Daily Bread, 331 S. George St., York PA 17401.
