"Lawana Dell Smith was born to Delbert Pembrook Smith and Beulah Cynthia Gillum on March 6, 1945. Lawana started her life in Sacramento, CA until her parents moved to Sparks, NV at a young age.

As a teenager and young adult Lawana attended Crosswinds Assembly of God Church in Sparks where she received Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and was very active in her church, later Lawana left Sparks and moved back to Sacramento to pursue a career and landed a job with the State of California at Franchise Tax Board. She later became permanent with the Department of Motor Vehicle and worked 31 years, working her way up to becoming a Motor Vehicle Technician. In 2011 Lawana retired from DMV.

Lawana loved to be around people and had a great sense of humor, her favorite word was (touche`) she also had a love for animals especially cats and horses. Lawana also loved to travel, she has been to many places which included Hawaii, Cruises to the Caribbean Islands and Alaska, Puerto Rico, Washington D.C., Virginia and many other places, but her most enjoyable place was Solvang, CA she like (sic) the Swedish culture. Lawana will be missed by all that loved her."
