Gary Lee Baker, age 84 of Manistee, MI died June 24, 2016 at the home of his son & daughter-in-law of Fort Belvoir, VA. He was born October 28, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Arthur P. & Margaret L. (Redwanz) Baker. He was a graduate of Dickson Rural Agricultural High School in Brethren, MI with the class of 1949. Gary served our country as member of the U.S. Army 10th Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. He married Shirley Mae Olk on October 28, 1955 in Manistee, MI. She preceded him in death in 2002. He was employed with Packaging Corporation of America for 36 years until his retirement. He was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Manistee.

He is survived by 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Brian & Nicole Baker of Fort Belvoir, VA and Rick & Kathy Baker of Manistee; 3 daughters & 2 son-in-law, Karen & Steve Montgomery of Lansing, MI, Marilyn & O.B. Fearnow of Traverse City, MI and Linda Baker of Wellston, MI; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive him.

In addition to his parents and wife Shirley Baker, he was preceded in death by Sally Lindeman, Carl Lindeman and Jerry Whitmer.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for Gary will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 14, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee with Pastor Kevin McClain officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery also in Manistee where members of the Manistee County United Veterans Ritual Squad will present graveside military honors
