LaVina F. Gross (Age 86) A life long resident of Adams County, passed away Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Cheney Care Center. The daughter of Reinholt and Mary (Mann) Grams, LaVina was born December 8, 1920 at Marcellus, WA. At age five the family moved to Ralston, WA, where she attended a one room country school before attending Ritzville High School. LaVina married Herbert F. Gross, January 15, 1939 at the Philadelphia Congregational Church in Ritzville. They lived in Ralston before moving to Paha where they leased farm ground and raised wheat, barley and cattle. In 1964 they moved into Ritzville. Along with raising their family, LaVina worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Bernard and as a part time clerk for Rummer's clothing store in Ritzville. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert in February of 1986, and a sister Martha McNutt. Surviving are two sons, Richard (Patricia) Gross of Orting, WA and Robert (Judy) Gross of Medical Lake; a brother Adolph (Jean) Grams of Tacoma; 4 sisters Olive Grams of Spokane, Rita (John) Imler of Tacoma and Jaunita (Gilbert) Sharp of Henderson, NV; grandchildren Richard (Melissa) Gross, Bonnie (Sean) Harrison, Herbert (Jenny) Gross; Dr. Kelley (Ken) Mathia, and Jolie (Tom) Sorensen; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the DANEKAS FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, RITZVILLE, WA, with Pastor Jim CastroLang, officiating. Vault interment will follow at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in LaVina's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Inland Northwest Chapter, 910 W. 5th Ave., Suite 256, Spokane, WA 99204. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 1 to 5 PM at Danekas Funeral Home.
