Imogene E. "Jean" Gaines, 93, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice. Formerly of Dayton, OH she had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 1980. Jean was born April 21, 1923 in Salyersville, KY a daughter of the late Homer and Emma (Lykins) Estep.
She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Ohio and Community Congregational Church in Naples where she enjoyed volunteering. Jean was also a former resident at Citrus Park in Bonita Springs where she was very involved socially. She enjoyed reading, dancing, playing bingo and bridge.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela J. (Wayne) Wickens of Bonita Springs, FL; grandsons, Scott A. Wickens of Troy, MI, Todd A. Wickens of Chicago, IL; great granddaughters, Parker Grace and Ainsley Claire Wickens; siblings, Linvel (Nancy) Estep of Springboro, OH, Elwood (Ruth) Estep of Salyersville, KY, Phyllis (Al) Angelastri of Venice, FL and Paul Estep of Toledo, OR. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Gaines in 2005; and 7 siblings.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail So., Bonita Springs, FL 34134. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM (Noon). She will be laid to rest beside her husband at 12:30 PM on Thursday at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
