David Dale Speer, 67, of North Apollo, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at West Haven Manor, in Apollo. He was born Aug. 27, 1949, in Oklahoma Borough, a son of the late Dale David and Amelia Rose Mazuch Speer. Dave was an Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He attended the Safe Harbor Church, in Truxal. Dave was an avid recycler, loved to socialize, enjoyed gambling, especially black jack and traveling. Some of his favorite destinations were Mackinac Island, Michigan and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Dave was employed by Akers National Roll, in Avonmore, for over 34 years as an overhead crane operator. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 13 years, Phyllis Jean Kremer Speer; his son, Chris Steele, of North Apollo; a sister, Susan R. Caraway and her husband Robert, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Tim Speer, of Kiski Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016 and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 in the funeral home. Reverend Larry Henry will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
