--He was 7th of 11 children of Jacob Blackwelder and his first wife Elizabeth Quillman. Within the large Blackwelder clan, he was known as "White Peter Alec", as he was blond, to distinguish him from a cousin named Peter Blackwelder.
--Occupation: Farmer.
--He married #1 Elizabeth Catherine Ridenhour on Dec. 18, 1839 in Cabarrus County. The couple had 5 children. One son, Quillman, died very young. The surviving 4: Martha Christina, Mumford W. Napoleon, Joanna Kemmaline, and Etta Jenetta Blackwelder.
--Following his wife's 1854 death, he married #2 Mary Ann M. Scott in October 1956. She was the daughter of John and Catherine Scott. The couple had one daughter, Lucinda Jane "Lucy" Blackwelder.
--Sadly, upon his death, his widow kept their daughter Lucy, but his children of his first marriage were split among various relatives. The 3 daughters all eventually ended up in Illinois. Son Mumford died in the service of the Confederacy.
