John (J.A.) Hopkins, 92, of Grubbs departed this life Monday, October 17, 2016. He was born September 19, 1924 to John Allen and Fannie Turner Hopkins. He enjoyed hog farming, riding around and working in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Aretta Hopkins, his parents, two brothers; Earl Hopkins and James Hopkins, and three sisters; Arby Byrd, Merle Jones, and Emma Jean Keller.
His survivors are one son; Phil Hopkins of Tuckerman, one daughter; Vickie McLaughlin and husband Doug of Grubbs, six grandchildren; Karla Hopkins of Weiner, John Hopkins (Jamie) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kevin McLaughlin of Grubbs, Candace Caldwell (David) of Weiner, Kyle McLaughlin (Shawna) of Grubbs, and Keisha Sullivan (Shannon) of Osceola, and nine great grandchildren; Jordan Richmond, Drake Hopkins, Shelby McLaughlin, Abbey and Ashley Sullivan, David, Tywan, Calisa, and Demarco Wood.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ballew's Chapel.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
