Katie worked as a nurse’s aide and attended the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. Those who knew Katie will remember her sense of humor and ability to always make you laugh. She enjoyed going to garage sales and playing bingo. Katie lived a hard life but fought through adversity to provide her children the best life she could. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, and caring friend to all who knew her.
Katie is survived by two sons Terry Dean Smith of Kentucky and Robert Earl Smith of Mount Pleasant, Texas; by two daughters, Teressa Plaster, and husband Paul, of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Janice Reynolds, and husband Joe, of Pittsburg, Texas; grandchildren, Terry Smith, Jr., Justin Smith, and Christopher Shane Reynolds; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Melissa Chester; one brother, Sonny Bradley; and by one sister, Joy Barnwell.
Funeral services for Katie Lou Smith will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home with J.C. Fountain officiating. Burial will follow at Stout’s Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, at the funeral home.
